Spinach and kale is DrinkGreen’s favorite, other options include: celery, chard, romaine, alfalfa, parsley, beet greens, and broccoli. Try it out and share with us what new green you will be trying in your smoothie!
By now you have discovered what fruit and vegetable combinations your tastebuds enjoy the most! We hope the information and knowledge of green smoothies that have been issued to you on a daily basis has helped you not only find the right green smoothie combination that taste good but is also good for you! We truly hope that this challenge is helping you add more servings of fruit and vegetables to your daily diet!
For day 11 of the challenge we will continue to add 4 vegetables to our smoothies! Yayyy! A delicious smoothie packed with fruits and vegetables! Remember our recipes for this challenge will remain basic to help those who are new to green smoothies discovery just how healthy and delicious green smoothies are.
In our daily recipes we include suggested “add ins” for your smoothies. These add ins can provide a boost of energy, protein and fiber to your smoothie.
REMINDER: While green smoothies can taste great just by using plain water when blending we are aware that many people who are new to green smoothies will have to work their way up to using plain water. Until you are comfortable with just using water you may use sugar free juice to add flavor to your green smoothie. The fun part of making green smoothies is finding all the great combinations and which ones work best for your health and taste buds!
TIP for adding “add ins”: either buy or grind your add in ingredients before add to your smoothie. Ground ingredients makes for a smoother smoothie … ie ground almonds, ground chia seed, ground oatmeal, etc.

Note: Fruit Intake
The U.S. Department of Agriculture recommends eating two to four servings of fruit a day. This should average out to 2 cups of fruit for most adults, except women over the age of 30, who only need about 1.5 cups a day. However, the majority of fructose consumption comes from foods other than fruits. In the early 20th century, the average American consumed about 15 grams of fructose from eating fruits and vegetables. Today Americans average 55 grams of fructose, much of it from artificial sugar such as high fructose corn syrup. Separating sugar from the nutritional content of fruit and vegetables is a trend that may contribute to a number of ailments such as diabetes and heart disease, which continue to perpetuate over time.
